What is a break
A break is a short audio element that you can integrate into your programming by using this module.
It is better to schedule an interruption directly in Planning -> Interruptions than to integrate it in the Planning.
A break can refer to multiple different elements:
- A punctual Jingle: presents your radio and makes it easy to remember.
- Top of the hour: announces the start of each hour on your radio. For more details, follow this link.
- An advert: allows you to promote partners/ sponsors
- A show: rebroadcast live shows or podcasts that you've already done
You can schedule the broadcasting of one or more breaks every X minutes directly from this module without worrying about the scheduler. If you have programmed several interruptions at the same time, you can define the priority directly by editing your breaks.
Add and manage your breaks
Include short interventions directly into your programming, set-up the date, time and repetition of breaks without worrying about your schedule. Choose the content (Tracks, Playlists or Programs) and plan them for the specific period of time.
1) Head over to Scheduling > Breaks
2) Click on Add a Break, a window will open. We're going to take a look at some options to best set up your breaks.
GENERAL
- Break Hour: This is the time of the first occurrence where the break will be broadcast.
- Priority: This option is useful when you have several breaks. It will allow you to give more importance to one break rather than another.
- Can stop music: Breaks are not played at an exact time to avoid interrupting the music. However, if you want to make sure that it will play at the right time, you can check this box.
- Tolerance: When Can stop music is on, you can select a maximum delay tolerance (choose 0 to play on time).
CONTENT
Here you can choose which audio file(s) you want to broadcast as a break.
- Track: Select Track if you want your break to be a single audio track. Simply enter the name of the uploaded file in the search bar below.
- Playlist: Choose whether you want your break to be a sequentially or randomly selectable number of titles in a playlist. A sequential playlist will play the first track of the playlist for the first break, the second for the second break, etc.
- Program: Select this option if you want your program to be played at a specific time.
BROADCAST DAYS
- Starting Date and Ending Date: This is the broadcast interval of your interruption. You can plan it up to 6 months in advance.
- Broadcast days: Select the days on which you want your interruption to be broadcast. If you do not select any days, it will be scheduled every day by default.
REPETITION
Activate this button if you wish to repeat your interruption during the day by assigning it a repeat interval and an end time.
Once the break has been created, the different slots are automatically added.
If we regenerate our schedule of the day, we can see that our breaks are played every hour with a tolerance of 5 minutes.
Breaks can be useful for a multitude of things, let your imagination run wild!
